He holds a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from the University of Calgary and brings a strong technical foundation to his work in institutional research. His professional interests include the use of artificial intelligence in decision science and the advancement of evidence-based planning in higher education.

German Rodriguez

German is a Senior Institutional Analyst,  translate complex university data into clear, actionable insights that support planning, policy, and continuous improvement. German works with a broad range of data—including enrolment, academic performance, space utilization, tuition, and survey results on student engagement and alumni experiences. He also lead initiatives that combine advanced survey analysis, U15 benchmarking, and interactive reporting tools to deepen institutional understanding and guide strategic decision-making. With a strong focus on usability, he makes data accessible, relevant, and central to decision-making across the university.

 

Pinkal Shah

Pinkal specializes in designing survey tools, managing survey administration processes, and performing in-depth analysis of key institutional surveys such as NSSE and CGPSS. He also contributes to university initiatives by providing data-driven insights for strategic planning, including developing reports and dashboards that give leadership clear, actionable information.

Jean Gomes

Jean is the Data Governance Administrator for Institutional Data Governance Practice, including communications and training. Within OIA, Jean’s roles include training service lead, qualitative data analysis, bibliometric reporting, USRI course evaluation support, and ԰ Qualtrics survey tool brand administrator support.

 

Recas Forbes

Recas is the key contact for the U15 TTC and CSRDE TTC. Other duties includes collaborating with OIA analysis to implement best practices for the procurement, storage and timely and effective dissemination of data from various sources; contact for the various virtual servers that runs applications such as the DataCookbook and Octopai applications; design, builds, maintains, training and front end applications to interact with the OIA Datamart, a system of dimensions and fact tables on which many of the OIA reports are built.

Gity is the OIA office coordinator. This includes administrative oversight, maintenance of the OIA website and SharePoint. Gity also provides communication and coordination within the OIA team members.

Phil Johnston

Phil primarily coordinates the ԰ Course Experience Survey (UCES)” which students give valuable feedback about their courses including teaching. Phil has secondary responsibilities of data analysis and support of the university's Qualtrics survey software.

Philip Tran

Philip is the Institutional Data Governance Analyst. He works on creating the content, processes, tools, and templates to support and mature the data governance practice at the University. He also maintains the IDG Central Repository which contains resources for the university community to discover, learn, and trust their data.

 

 

Sakib Rahman

Sakib Rahman is a Senior Analyst, specializing in program costing, tuition revenue modeling, and UCASS data analysis. He holds a PhD in Economics and has expertise in econometric analysis, economic modeling, and translating complex data into actionable insights to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and academic excellence. Outside of work, he is an avid outdoor enthusiast.

 

 

Christepher Claxton

Data Scientist

Chris is a Data Scientist in the Office of Institutional Analysis, working at the intersection of data, research strategy, and institutional planning. He integrates and analyzes data from diverse sources to support reporting and strategic initiatives. Chris builds automated data pipelines in Python and creates interactive Power BI dashboards to make complex data clear, accessible, and actionable. He has a strong interest in research impact assessment and the role of data in communicating the value of research.

Phuong Thao Nguyen

Junior Data Scientist

As a Junior Data Scientist at the Office of Institutional Analysis, I support institutional decision-making through machine learning, data analysis, and the design of robust ETL pipelines. My work focuses on deriving actionable insights and streamlining data workflows to enhance organizational efficiency. Outside of OIA, I explore practical applications of emerging AI technologies. To stay balanced, I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and growing my own ingredients - a grounding contrast to the digital world that keeps me curious and creatively engaged.
