Employment Type Summaries
Select the employment type(s) to view or compare the description and other eligibility details for Support Staff (AUPE). These overviews provide basic entitlements for employees new to the organization. Entitlements for internal employees transferring to a new role may vary slightly depending on their current job and entitlements.
Employee Type ID: Reg FT
Definition: Employees funded from base operating dollars (Operating Employees) who work year-round.
The AUPE Collective Agreement guides the employment relationship for all AUPE employees. See Article 1 – Definitions and Interpretations for more information.
Position Management:
- Assigned a one-to-one position number in the HR System
- Active positions are used for annual budgeting and planning purposes
- Active positions count against a department budget’s spend until that position is inactivated in the HR System
Recruitment Requirements:
- Job Profile Required
- Funding approval required
- Job Opening requested and approved via the Job Opening Request form (located in the myÔ°ÇøÒùÂÒ Portal under My work)
- Posting Required - Minimum of seven days
- Offer letter produced
- Hours increase or decrease requires posting on changes greater than 20%
- Probation completed after six months (Article 17- Probationary Employee and Period)

- Support Staff Limited Term when the position supports base operations and is charged directly to base operating funds.*
or - Support Staff Limited Term (Project) when the position is directly charged to a non-research project.
Appointments shall not be less than six (6) months and not more than two (2) years. Limited term appointments may be extended for an additional two years from the commencement date of the appointment subject to notice in accordance with Article OP40.
