Monthly Parking Permit Holders
If you currently hold a physical monthly parking permit, no action is required at this time. When your permit is up for renewal, you will automatically transition to the University of Calgary’s virtual parking permit system.
All information you need will be included in your renewal email. Physical permits will no longer be issued, as parking is now managed through Licence Plate Recognition (LPR). Your licence plate will serve as your parking permit.
What is LPR?
Technology that uses cameras to read your licence plate as you enter and exit parking areas. Each plate is automatically linked to a virtual permit. No need to display a physical pass or hang tag. This helps ensure parking is managed in a simple, accurate and consistent way across campus.
No Backing Into Stalls
The system needs a clear view of your licence plate to verify your permit. If you back into the stall, your plate is blocked, and the cameras can't confirm your parking, which will result in a ticket.
